Who's ready for the coho run?? Will you time it right when they decide to run? Interested in booking a trip it's not to late, I had Sept 19 and Oct 2 open up due to cancellations, also I have a few afternoon dates open as well. I have a couple of guides who I work closely with that have a few days open too. Give me a call or email me to discuss a trip and we'll get you hooked up. Just in (9/15) - One of the DSR river patrollers just reported that he saw at least 100 Coho and King down in the Estuary at the lower property line.
Due to the overwhelming requests for dates for salmon season I will be offering a limited number of afternoon trips. Interested, For more information contact me via FB, phone or email. Paul
I was up on the Ausable River in Wilmington over the past week and the fishing was great, plenty of hatches coming off for the dry fly angler from mid day on and nymphing was good all day. Here are my clients tight line nymphing thru some very productive pocket water on the Ausable. A #16 Frenchie and #8 Rubber Leg Stone Fly are a great set up on the Ausable, this nice Brown got fooled by the frenchie. I have limited dates left for trout fishing trips, if you would like to book one give me a call or click on the contact tab to e-mail me.
The 2015 Salmon Run is quickly approaching and now is the time to get your dates booked if you already haven't. Come join me at the Douglaston Salmon Run for a great day on the water this Fall.
Are you following us for the Latest Reports and News on the Salmon River??
Fishing on the Salmon River has been tough for the first half of April, Hopefully were over the hump and good days are ahead of us. The flows are still high on the Salmon River but we shouldn't see it any higher hopefully unless we get some rain. Rumors say the hatchery is done collecting eggs and the hatchery has plenty of adult steelhead in it waiting to drop back into the river. The ice on the eastern end Lake Ontario is finally gone and that opens the inshore brown trout fishing. Guides do get to fish once in a while.
Cabin fever starting to set in?? Need a break from tying flies?? Or doing the "Honey Do List?" January has plenty of opportunities for the fly fisherman. The sport shows are all starting up all around, The Fly Fishing Show is make its annual rounds on the east coast and for the diehards there is plenty of decent days to get out and do some winter steelhead fishing on the Salmon River. We are still offering our "Winter Special" with Lodging at the Tailwater Lodge til the end of February, so give us a call or email to book a trip.
Lee's smile say's it all. What we lacked in salmon this year, the steelhead are making up for it. If you’re on any social media sites for the Salmon River area you will see a lot of the big steelhead being caught this year. I'm book solid thru all of November but a couple of the guides I use have some open dates. If you want to get in on some great steelhead fishing click here to contact me about booking a trip.
There are plenty of steelhead in the river, they just don't want to bite like we want them too. The water temp is just too warm for them to act like they should. The plus side, there's a cold front on the way. Just like there are plenty of fish, there are plenty of fisherman along the banks of the Salmon River. Respect each other's space and don't crowd in on other anglers space and have a enjoyable day fishing, isn't that why were out there???
