West Canada Creek Fishing Report – Brown Trout on the Swing

West Canada Creek Fishing Report – September 26, 2026

The West Canada Creek has been fishing well for brown trout, with some good opportunities to get out and swing flies.

With fall settling in, the cooler water and changing conditions make this a great time to target brown trout on swung flies. We’ve been spending time covering water with trout Spey and swinging flies, looking for aggressive fish willing to chase and eat a moving fly.

The West Canada Creek is a great option for anglers looking to experience fly fishing in Upstate New York without the crowds found on some of the more well-known trout waters.

Swinging Flies for Brown Trout

Swinging flies for brown trout is one of my favorite ways to fish the West Canada Creek. The combination of moving water, fall conditions, and aggressive trout makes for some exciting fishing.

We’ll be using trout Spey and other swinging techniques, as well as streamers when conditions call for them. The goal is to cover water effectively and give the trout an opportunity to chase down a moving fly.
